Being a mom (single or not) means juggling laundry, homework, work, and emotions… with zero bathroom breaks. Tired? Yes. Guilty? Often. Heroic? Always.
You can be loved without being chosen. Until you choose yourself, no external validation is enough. Choosing yourself is an act of freedom. Start with you. Every day.
On May 30, 2025, on the occasion of the first World Single Parent Day, Mamans Soloeotop ASBL will present various awards to honor those committed to supporting single-parent families. Dr. Colette Njomgang and Mr. Christophe De Beukelaer, present as parents and committed citizens, will speak and participate in honoring those involved in the single-parent corridor. The names of the winners of the Nsenga Ndoye Aït-Baala Awards 2025 ceremony, which will take place on October 10 in Brussels, will be officially unveiled on October 10, 2025.
On the occasion of World Single Parent Day, Yvette Tabu Inangoy and Bakhta Chemame join forces to promote responsible single parenting, rooted in healthy co-parenting. One, a former minister and entrepreneur, advocates for a shared and peaceful vision between separated parents. The other, founder of GSR, advocates for the emancipation of single mothers through reintegration and autonomy. Together, they emphasize that single parenthood can become a lever for transformation, serving the well-being of the child.
Parenting through grief and abandonment: two voices for paternal resilience On the occasion of World Single Parent Day, Lachen Hammouch, journalist and writer, will share his journey as a father who became a single father after the death of his wife, embodying a strong and sensitive fatherhood. Alongside him, Andy Vermaut, journalist and president of the World Council for Public Community, will share his role as a father after maternal abandonment. Two stories of resilience, love, and presence, to break the taboos surrounding single fathers and defend inclusive parenting.
A multi-talented moderator is much more than a debate leader. Combining active listening, mastery of speech, and emotional intelligence, she creates rich and inclusive spaces for discussion. Charismatic, committed, and versatile, she embodies the art of bringing voices together, conveying meaning, and bringing dialogue to life.
Protecting single parents in times of war means restoring hope in the midst of armed conflict. It means sowing the seeds of lasting peace, borne of the silent courage of those who raise children despite the violence. With an inclusive and profoundly humanist vision, Nathalie Van Opstal and Beny N'Kashama call for recognizing these parents as pillars of resilience, reconstruction... and peace.
“I am a woman, even without a uterus” affirms that femininity transcends biology. It is a cry for freedom, dignity, and power. To be a woman is to live, love, fight, and exist fully, with or without motherhood. It is a profound, free, and universal identity.

Learn MoreAs an African child, it is often difficult to have the opportunity to think for oneself. Yet, critical thinking is the very source of creativity. This is why it is essential to teach our children to dream big. By cultivating this mindset, they will be able to take charge of their destiny and develop their own leadership, giving them the tools they need to build their future with confidence and boldness.
